The bar

As soon as you walk in you will find a wonderfully warm and inviting space. The bar has been redecorated in natural, earthy tones and with contemporary furniture and styling. It will be a place where you can enjoy everything from craft beers, to well-chosen wines to sophisticated cocktails.There's a welcoming snug area too, with sofas and armchairs arranged by the fireplace; the perfect place to linger on an autumn evening.

The restaurant

Following the refurbishment of The Star Inn, near Wantage, WSH Restaurants have announced plans to continue its evolution and rebrand the restaurant.

‘The Sparsholt’, will open ahead of the busy Summer season with a concept unlike any other in the Vale of White Horse, shining a spotlight on the venue’s hidden away location in the tiny village of Sparsholt.

Taken over by WSH Restaurants in 2022, The Star Inn has gained renown for its superb Sunday lunches, and a delicious seasonal la carte menu, served alongside elevated pub classics such as steaks and pies.

Following the change, ‘The Sparsholt’ will forge a signature style of cookery as a destination restaurant with rooms, unique to the local area, further amplifying its celebration of quality seasonal produce and referencing its place in a uniquely historic landscape.

A new and exciting a la carte menu devised by Luke Sutton will launch when The Sparsholt reopens at 6pm on 8^th May, with a tempting terrace menu to follow.

The garden

The garden and outdoor terrace is one of The Star's loveliest features with a beautiful brook skimming its edges. This summer we will be busy re-landscaping and updating the outdoor furniture too, making it a wonderful place to enjoy a delicious meal or a drink in the sunshine.

The rooms

We already have eight beautiful bedrooms in the barn adjoining the pub and for the summer months these lovely cosy rooms will be available to book when you come to enjoy the beauty of the Vale of the White Horse. However, this autumn we will be closing them for a luxury revamp and re-opening the barn in time for the festive season.
