Message from Ness Brunner-Ellis 

September is often the time when we re-start something, or start something 
new, the school and university terms giving us a steer with those all-important 
dates (and I do hope that all of our school leavers have been able to find a 
positive and fulfilling way ahead with their careers and working lives).  
The Church at this time moves towards a change in season: Harvests are our 
next Festival, an important time of thanksgiving and gratitude as we give thanks 
for all that we have - most especially food - and the dates for our Festival 
Services are overleaf. 
We’re also re-starting something we’ve not done for a while: Evensong. Set as it 
is towards the latter part of the day, Sunday Evensong gives an opportunity for 
spiritual reflection and a time to contemplate the busy-ness of our lives, with 
beautiful music, before everything starts again on a Monday morning! As you’ll 
see on the Rota overleaf, Ridgeway’s Evensong will be re-commencing at 4 pm 
on Sunday 15th September in the Church of the Holy Rood Sparsholt and 
everyone is warmly invited. 
Another date for your diary is Saturday 14th September, the Annual Ride & 
Stride. Do come and join in - maybe even start a new hobby this season by 
riding, walking or cycling! Further details are below.
