The Hall's History:
Originally built as a school in 1874 and run for 90 years until it closed in 1964 the building was eventually purchased in 1968 with the help of a generous grant from Charles Griffin whose wife and son had both been pupils, after further public donations the hall was opened. A plaque in the hall commemorates this.
More recently, 2007 saw the completion of three phases of renovation and new building works, photos of these can be seen on display in the hall. The works were designed to ensure the building complied with all necessary regulations, met the needs of various users and provides a pleasant environment. The two pictures of the old interior show for example the previous difficulties of leaving via the South Porch with its numerous steps - now wheel chair friendly, and the old ceiling insulation and inefficient heating all of which have been replaced.
The new Reception area, kitchen and toilets replaced the previous ones that had been added to the building over the years (many years ago) resulting in modern facilities which include a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities.
